Make your 12+ hour journey a breeze with these expert tips on hydration, seating, and sleep strategies.

Surviving the Long Haul

Long-haul flights can be exhausting, but with the right preparation, you can step off the plane feeling refreshed and ready for your holiday.

1. Hydration is Key

The cabin air is incredibly dry. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your flight. Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine, as they dehydrate you further.

2. Dress Comfortably

Wear loose, breathable layers. Temperatures on planes fluctuate, so a light sweater or scarf is essential. Compression socks can also help improve circulation and reduce swelling.

3. Choose the Right Seat

If you plan to sleep, a window seat is ideal so you have something to lean against and won't be disturbed. If you like to stretch or visit the lavatory often, opt for an aisle seat.

4. Pack a Survival Kit

Include travel-sized moisturiser, lip balm, a toothbrush, noise-cancelling headphones, an eye mask, and a neck pillow in your carry-on.
